The Honda Insight hybrid has been on sale for over a year, and results show that the half gas, half electric ride has won over the hearts (and wallets) of green car fans everywhere.
About.com recently did a 10 month long study on the Insight, choosing pros and cons from the real-world road tests to inform readers of just what to expect when getting into a hybrid Honda.
After almost 23,000 miles on the odometer, Honda's Insight performs just as good as when it first rolled off the lot. A tire rotation and oil change was needed, as per the owner's manual. However, a filter change, which normally goes along with the oil, was not recommended. The Insight can go two oil cycles before needing a replacement of filters.
The Insight, along with most of the other new Honda models, have a longer period between scheduled maintenance. Where one use to have oil replaced every 3000 to 5000 miles, some models can now surpass 10,000.
The totals up until the Month of July, 2010 in the article also say a lot about Honda's dependability:
Ending mileage: 23,213
Average fuel economy: 48.1 MPG
Total repair/service costs: $167.68
Problems observed this month: None
Want to test drive the dependable and money saving hybrid on the road? Come on over to Scholfield Honda - 7017 East Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67207.
