Honda made history when they first introduced the CR-Z hybrid. It is, in fact, the first six-speed production hybrid in automotive history. Built using advanced IMA Hybrid technology with three different driving modes (Sport, ECON, or Normal); it's designed to give owners the utmost freedom. It is what Honda calls a "responsible indulgence".¹

Taking the idea of "responsible indulgence" one step further, Honda racing arm Mugen, has decided to transform the already hot Honda CR-Z hybrid into a hotter-yet sports car. And, they chose to unveil the Mugen CR-Z RR concept at none other than the world-renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

If you know Mugen you know that the addition of the double-R suffix at the end of the Honda CR-Z moniker denotes ultimate sportiness. Mugen and Honda's goal is for the CR-Z RR to triumph the hybrid coupe line.

Mugen added a supercharged engine managed by a specially designed control unit. This gives the RR almost 200hp, putting it on level ground with the GTI Scirocco...at least as far as power is concerned. The GTI Scirocco doesn't come with any hybrid benefits as does the CR-Z Mugen RR.

Outside, Mugen added a suite of RR-exclusive parts to the Honda CR-Z. These include new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear wing and 18-inch rims, and various carbon fiber pieces of trim to compliment the orange colored body.
