Diesel cars are just beginning to regain popularity throughout the United States and Canada. Overseas, in countries like the UK and German, Diesel is one of the most popular forms of fueling any vehicle.
In India, gasoline prices are skyrocketing due in part to their massive population. In order to combat a fuel crisis, exporters of cars to India, such as Honda, are creating alternative engines for smaller vehicles. Soon, a Honda Fit with diesel powerplant will be available throughout that large country.
Honda Siel Cars India senior vice-president (Sales and Marketing), Jnaneswar Sen, said: "The Research and Development team in Japan is developing diesel engines. It is premature to say that the products will be rolled out on diesel (platform)."1
Honda vehicles represent about 20% of the Indian automotive market, as far as sales are concerned. Two of the top performers include Brio (an India exclusive) and Jazz (Europe and Australia's name for Fit).
Maybe one day cars at Scholfied Honda - 7017 East Kellogg Dr in Wichita, KS will also come with different diesel engine options for its loyal shoppers to test drive.
