A Comparison of the Honda SUV Models

You are in the market for a new SUV and know that Honda has a reputation for creating reliable vehicles without sacrificing performance or comfort, but which SUV should you get? Which one fits your lifestyle? Take a look at our comparison of three Honda SUV models and decide for yourself.

Honda CR-V: Functional and Reliable

There really is no need for an introduction. The Honda CR-V is one of the most popular SUVs on the road. It was awarded the highest-rated compact SUV for 2019 with an excellent record of reliability.

The 5 passenger Honda CR-V offers a comfortable driving experience with renowned functionality. It is fantastic for smaller families or individuals who value a quiet, smooth ride, sophisticated tech, and great safety features.

It comes standard with a 184-horsepower*, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission. A 190-hp, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder is available. The CR-V comes standard with front-wheel drive, but you can choose to upgrade to all-wheel drive (AWD).

Horsepower (SAE net): 184 @ 6400 rpm, 190 @ 5600 rpm.

If towing capacity is extremely, we do suggest taking a look at the Honda Passport or Honda Pilot. The CR-V offers around 1500 lbs. of towing capacity which is suitable for most of its buyers, but some will find that it isn’t enough to suit their needs.

The midrange EX trim has great features like remote start, a power moonroof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, heated front seats, a power driver's seat, a touchscreen multimedia system with Apple CarPlay™* and Android Auto™* smartphone connectivity, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and the Honda Sensing suite of active safety features. Honda Sensing®  includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and, adaptive cruise control.

*Apple CarPlay™ Integration
Depending on use, Apple CarPlay can share certain user and vehicle information (e.g., vehicle location, speed and other operating conditions) with the connected iPhone. See Apple’s privacy policy for details regarding Apple’s use and handling of data uploaded by CarPlay. Use of CarPlay is at user’s own risk, and is subject to agreement to the CarPlay terms of use, which are included as part of the Apple iOS terms of use. CarPlay vehicle integration is provided “as is,” and Honda cannot guarantee CarPlay operability or functionality now or in the future due to, among other conditions, changes in CarPlay software/Apple iOS, service interruptions, or incompatibility or obsolescence of vehicle-integrated hardware or software. See dealer for details. Only use CarPlay when conditions allow you to do so safely. Access Google Maps™, text messages, your favorite music and popular apps with convenient Android Auto™* integration. Honda Sensing® is a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies designed to work together by alerting you to things you might miss while driving.

Honda Passport: For The Adventurer Who Values Comfort

If you are in the market for something slightly larger than the CR-V but smaller than the Honda Pilot, with rugged sophistication, the Honda Passport is likely the SUV you have been searching for.

Size-wise it’s a spacious 5-passenger SUV and is equipped for the more adventurous type. The Honda Passport comes standard as a front-wheel-drive (FWD) crossover SUV with an all-wheel drive (AWD) optional. The Passport with AWD capabilities also has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs.

The 3.5-liter V6 is combined with a solid 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive models feature an excellent torque-vectoring system with four traction modes that make for a highly capable crossover SUV.

Where the Passport really shines is interior and cargo space. When all seats are upright, the standard Sport model offers 50.5 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear row of seats folded down, the SUV opens up to offer a maximum of 100.7 cubic feet of cargo space including a hidden storage compartment.

The Honda Passport can also be outfitted with Honda Sensing® * to help you stay safe on the road and offers modern features such as LED Fog Lights, Apple CarPlay™* and Android Auto™*, wireless phone charging, an AT&T mobile hotspot, Honda Satellite Navigation, and more. The Passport will keep you and passengers comfortable, safe, and connected while you embark on those long weekend adventures.

*Honda Sensing® is a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies designed to work together by alerting you to things you might miss while driving. Apple CarPlay™ Integration Depending on use, Apple CarPlay can share certain user and vehicle information (e.g., vehicle location, speed and other operating conditions) with the connected iPhone. Honda Pilot: Family-friendly and Spacious

Honda looked to the Odyssey minivan for inspiration and came up with this great family-friendly vehicle. With a 3 row, 8 passenger interior, plenty of awesome tech options, and fantastic safety features, the Honda Pilot is sure to win over the entire family.

With a smooth and efficient V-6 engine, the Honda Pilot offers towing capacity of 3,500 lbs - which is more than enough for most buyers.

When it comes to cargo space, there's 16.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, which grows to 46.8 with it folded. Flip the second row down and you'll have nearly 84 cubic feet of cargo space.

The Honda Pilot also offers the Honda Sensing®*  suite of safety features with standard driver-assistance technology, providing drivers with forward-collision alert, automated emergency braking, and lane-keep assist. Adaptive cruise control can also be added to all Pilot models.
